CELEBRATIONS, THEMED EATS, AND A VINYL PARTY WITH KITTENS FOR TAYLOR SWIFT’S “THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT” RELEASE

Philly’s Swifties are in full force as Taylor Swift drops her highly anticipated 11th studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” and the city is having a field day with themed celebrations popping up all over, on the heels of its midnight release today.

According to PhillyMag, before fans could even get their hands on the album, Taqueria Amor was offering up a “Tortured Poets” themed menu complete with crafty drink names like “I Can Fizz Him,” and even a joint venture with Main Street Music slated for Record Store Day on April 20th.

Not to be outshined, FOX29 highlighted the ‘Tortured Taqueria Department’ pop-up menu at Taqueria Amor running until April 28th, and for the Swifties looking to get their groove on while doing a bit of shopping, diners who bring in their receipt from Taqueria Amor to Mainstreet Music from April 19-21 are getting a special discount on vinyl and CD copies of Swift’s newest oeuvre.

Meanwhile, over in Manayunk Philadelphia is pulling out all stops with a myriad of events; Bark Social is hosting a furry friend-friendly album drop party complete with cocktails, costumes, and prizes, while D-Signed for You across in New Jersey is getting crafty with a book and bracelet making workshop and Latchkey Records in South Philadelphia is playing good Samaritan with a vinyl release party that doubles as a kitten adoption bonanza, funneling 10% of all sales to the Morris Animal Refuge, CBS News Philadelphia reported.

Swemo fans, buckle up because City Winery Philadelphia in Center City is whisking the ‘Tortured Poets Department’ Album Release Party into an emo and pop punk night to remember and for you night owls Evil Genius in Fishtown/Kensington is throwing a listening party complete with glittery beers, aptly named “Taylor’s version”, only two days after the album’s release, as per the same CBS Philly report — good luck finding a more quirky way to toast to Swift’s latest lyrical labyrinth come Sunday. Swift-blasted fitness classes are also popping up, with Amrita Yoga & Wellness offering a Swift-themed hot yoga class to stretch away your feels to Taylor’s latest, and Soulcycle in Ardmore is setting the pacing to “The Tortured Poets Department” with Saturday morning classes. If you’re still standing by Sunday, Vera in Cherry Hill, New Jersey tees up a Drag Brunch where Beyonce and Taylor go head to head, because nothing screams Sunday Funday like a side of eggs with your diva showdown.
