Exclusive:Taylor Swift Scores Big Win Ahead of Album Release
Taylor Swift has scored a big win ahead of her album release on Friday, with the pop star racking up more than 300,000 new Instagram followers in 30 days.
Swift announced her 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department while accepting the Grammy Award for Best Album in February. As the April 19 release date has neared, the hype for the album has reached new heights, with the promotional campaign sending Swifties wild.
A hoard of fans lined up to scan a QR code in Chicago’s North District on Monday to view a 13-second clip on the singer’s website, while Swifties have been scouring the Tortured Poets promo materials, pop-up stand, and tracklist for Easter eggs.
Following her history-making Eras tour—which has made the singer a billionaire—and further wins at this year’s Grammys, it’s hard to imagine how Swift’s star power could rise more.
Still, the 34-year-old has managed to land even more fans on social media. According to analytics platform Social Blade, Swift has gained an average of 10,875 new Instagram followers a day for the past month, equalling 326,250.
Swift’s total follower count is now 283 million. The boost has helped to solidify her spot in the top 20 most-followed Instagram accounts around the world, with Swift currently tied for 14th place with National Geographic.
