The anchors set the record straight on their Wednesday show saying Goldberg, who hasn’t appeared on air in a few weeks, has pneumonia.

‘She’s actively recovering from pneumonia. It’s a serious thing. So I don’t think she’s going to be able to host the Oscars and I’m sure she’s very disappointed,’ host Joy Behar said on the show.

‘She’s not even really well enough to host this show right now, much less the Oscars,’ she added.

‘I saw her last night and she is very funny still and we had big laughs and she’s getting there. She’s on the mend. We miss you, Whoopi ,’ Behar assured the audience.

The Oscars show is set for this Sunday evening and still has no host following the Kevin Hart scandal, where he stepped down from the job due to public outcry over his decade-old homophobic tweets.

Goldberg was rumored to be secretly hosting the Oscars, which would be her fifth time hosting Hollywood’s most glamorous evening in entertainment.

Fans have noted that the 63-year-old actress and comedian has been absent from her presenting duties at her daily talk show, which along with the Oscars, is produced by ABC.
