Breaking News;Fans Defend North West After Critics Slam Her Performance in ‘The Lion King’ 30th Anniversary Event. Here’s the details
Fans are speaking out to defend the eldest daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West after the 10-year-old made her debut at the Hollywood Bowl in a live production of Disney’s The Lion King on Friday, May 24.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the beloved animated film, the Hollywood Bowl is running a live-to-film concert event, with North playing the coveted role of Simba. Other notable cast members include Billy Eichner, Jason Weaver, Nathan Lane, Jennifer Hudson and more.
But after footage of North’s performance circulated online, some critics spoke out to bash her singing skills and question how much she really deserved the role—prompting a flurry of fans to rush to her defense.
When dreams can be purchased,” one hater commented on a TikTok video from North’s performance of “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” while tons more users chimed in to mock the child for being a “nepo baby.”
Others attacked North’s talent directly, including one person who wondered, “they didn’t put her in one vocal lesson before this?”
However, the haters appeared to be outnumbered by North’s supporters, many of whom immediately clapped back in defense of the child.
“Everybody is so mean to her,” someone else lamented before calling North’s performance “so cute!”
“Y’all forget she’s a child,” that same user added.
“Her voice sounds good for this,” added another, while someone else pointed out, “She’s a star on her own. you can’t teach such confidence.”
“This is actually so cool for her,” another user celebrated.
