It’s the reaction we’ve been waiting a “Fortnight” for—Charlie Puth has finally responded to being name-dropped on Taylor Swift’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department.

Puth, 32, began making headlines two weeks ago after Swift dropped the highly-anticipated new album, which mentions the “Attention” crooner by name in one of the songs.

In the title track, Swift sings, “You smoked, then ate seven bars of chocolate / We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist.”

While fans have patiently waited for Puth to react, he finally seemed to address the situation in a TikTok video shared on Friday, May 3.

“These last couple weeks have been really crazy for obvious reasons,” he said in the clip, without mentioning Swift or the new song by name. “But I wanted to share something with you.”

He then introduced his new song, “Hero,” which he said was previously “nervous” about releasing due to the vulnerability of the track.

“But I think someone there was giving me a sign that I needed to release it,” he wrote in an apparent nod to Swift, 34.

“So…I Declare ‘Hero’ will be out everywhere on May 24th as the first single of my new album,” the post continued in a seemingly blatant reference to the line in Swift’s song.
