Serena Williams shone at the ESPYs, but her daughter Olympia stole the spotlight with her grace and poise.

Now, Olympia has even begun playing “mind games” with her father, Alexis Ohanian. Despite being a loving and dedicated dad, Ohanian is anxious about the day his eldest daughter will grow up and explore the world independently.

Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit and an investor, takes pride in being a hands-on father. He spends quality time with Olympia, whether it’s cooking her favorite meals, playing video games, or enjoying mani-pedis together.

His efforts are rewarded with sweet hugs, kisses, and the occasional heartfelt “I love you.” Ohanian frequently discusses the joys and challenges of fatherhood on his podcast, “Business Dad.”

As Olympia turned six, Ohanian began to worry about her growing up. On a recent episode of his podcast, he opened up about these concerns.

He said, “Now I feel like a great dad. That makes me feel good. But when you think about where this goes from here, there’s a chart.”

This chart symbolizes the fleeting nature of time spent with his children, which he fears will significantly diminish as they grow older.

Ohanian explained his anxiety, stating, “It’s like a visualization of your life. And it’s the amount of time you will spend with your kids, right? And it just plummets once they turn 18.”

He expressed his struggle to stay mindful of this reality amidst work trips and deadlines, emphasizing the importance of cherishing every moment with his children.

Balancing work and fatherhood

Despite the demands of his career, Ohanian makes a conscious effort to spend quality time with both of his children.

He is a strong advocate for paternity leave and often shares his thoughts on the significance of fathers being present during their children’s formative years.

However, he dreads the inevitable day when his kids will need him less as they grow older.

Recently, Ohanian shared a new father-daughter outing with Olympia – a mani-pedi session. He cherishes these moments, even suspecting that Olympia might be playing him to get more spa trips.

“Maybe she’s just already figured out how to play me and see what gets more spa trips with Papa. But I’ll take it,” he joked. Regardless, the unsolicited “I love you papa” from Olympia made it all worthwhile for him.

Whether or not Olympia has her father figured out, Ohanian is happy to be there for his daughters, Olympia and Adira. He wishes time would slow down so he can savor every moment of their childhood.

As he navigates the joys and challenges of fatherhood, Ohanian remains dedicated to being the best dad he can be, even as he anticipates the day his daughters will spread their wings and explore the world.
