Joan Rivers would have approved of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romance – but hated the NFL star’s dress sense, according to the late comedian’s daughter Melissa.

Rivers – who died aged 81 in 2014 – was known for her acerbic wit and jaw-dropping jokes, with her only daughter, 56, exclusively telling DailyMail.com the star would have weighed in on Taylor and Travis’ union.

Melissa said: ‘I think she would love that Taylor is happy because let’s be 100% honest – love her or hate her – I happen to love her – talk about a work ethic and a good example for young women.

Saying you work hard, you get the rewards, she is incredibly talented. I think she would think it’s fun – again it’s fantasy.’

‘Can you imagine being on that tour and recording an album at the same time? How does her voice hold out?’

Melissa quipped Joan would have lambasted Travis’ quirky dress sense, adding: ‘I think she would hate how Travis dresses. I can tell you that point blank and her whole thing is like “When is she going to get in his closet” that would be her acceptance that this is a real relationship, any mother would believe it then.

‘Everyone has had some misses but in general when she’s on the red carpet she looks very sophisticated. My mother would be like “honey I know you love him, now let’s redress him”.

‘ Right now I love that she’s just letting him be him but let’s get him in something else. Men’s fashion to me – you can do essence of trends- very few men can pull off crazy sh*t, you have to do what I say is an “essence of”, printed pants and a plain shirt or the crazy shirt with the plain pants, we don’t need to do both.

Taylor and Travis officially confirmed their romance in September last year and have been seen packing on the PDA on countless occasions since.

Swift is due to resume her The Eras Tour on May 9 in France.

Joan died in a New York City hospital on September 4, 2014 following complications from a medical procedure.

The star was sedated with propofol before she died of low blood oxygen during a procedure to treat voice changes and acid reflux, according to the New York City medical examiner.

The medical examiner’s office reported no apparent medical error and determined the manner of death as a ‘therapeutic complication’.

Earlier this year Melissa said the iconic comedian would have embraced the new weight loss pills dominating the Hollywood scene after several A-listers have admitted to dropping pounds using Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro.

Oh she would have thought Ozempic was the greatest thing since sliced bread,’ the TV host told People.

‘Her two least favorite things were diet and exercise, so if she could find a way to avoid both? Awesome,’ she joked.

Melissa also mentioned a trend Joan would have scoffed at: athletic wear.

‘She would not have bought into athleisure and people wearing sweatpants everywhere,’ she claimed.

‘She’d be like no, you still get dressed, you pull yourself together, you put on a little lip gloss and then you go out.’

However, Melissa said her mom would have been ‘very excited by body acceptance.’

The loss still weighs heavy on Melissa as she was extremely close with her mother.

‘I think about her the most when something ridiculous happens,’ Melissa explained. ‘So many of our phone calls began with, ‘Ok so, are you ready for this?”

Despite her mother’s absence, Melissa continues to hear her voice and feel her spirit.

‘I especially think of her when I’m about to get upset, and have to stop and think, ‘What would she do in this particular situation?’
