Kim Kardashian explains why she wore ‘raggedy’ sweater to Met Gala after people called it a ‘wardrobe malfunction’
Kim Kardashian’s pilled sweater had a purpose on the 2024 Met Gala red carpet.
The reality star explained to Vogue Monday night why she paired the gray cardigan — which one social media user deemed a “kindergarten teacher” sweater — with her John Galliano for Maison Margiela gown.
Kardashian, 43, meant to channel the aftermath of “the wildest night of [her] life in a garden.”
She explained, “I just ran out and grabbed my boyfriend’s sweater and threw it on and had to get to work. And my hair is all messed up.”
While many fans raved over the “Kardashians” star’s shockingly small waist in her corset dress, others were too distracted by the choice of outerwear.
“Now why is Kim wearing that raggedy ass pilled sweater with that nice dress?” one asked via X, with another noting the “beady beads” on the cashmere.
“Kim the sweater literally makes no sense. why did they let you go out like that?” a third user asked.
Others labeled it “disgusting and old,” comparing it to a T.J. Maxx purchase and speculating that it covered a wardrobe “malfunction.”
Kardashian ditched her signature black locks on the red carpet for loose, icy-blonde waves.
The Skims creator sported the same hair color when channeling Marilyn Monroe in the late actress’ own Jean Louis gown at the 2022 ball.
Similarly, Kardashian whittled her waist down to an extreme size for that year’s red carpet.
