LIVE UPDATES LIVE UPDATES, Israel’s war on Gaza live: Most of Jabalia refugee camp ‘in ruins’
Israel’s 20-day operation in Jabalia destroyed much of the city, including more than 1,000 homes, civil defence spokesman Mahmoud Basal says.
“Decisive international action” – including sanctions and an arms embargo – must be imposed on Israel over its widely condemned assault on the southern Gaza city of Rafah, dozens of UN experts demand.
Israel’s attack on Rafah is not a “major operation”, the US State Department says, even though thousands of troops are in the area, dozens of Palestinians have been killed, and one million people displaced.
A UN agency says about 18,500 pregnant Palestinian women are fleeing Rafah’s “unrelenting nightmare”.
At least 36,224 Palestinians have been killed and 81,777 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza since October 7. The death toll in Israel from Hamas’s attack is at least 1,139 with dozens of people still held captive in Gaza.

As we’ve been reporting, residents of Jabalia are returning to their hometown after Israeli forces’ withdrawal yesterday, only to find much of it ruined.

Israeli attack in southern Lebanon kills medic: Report
Lebanon’s National News Agency is reporting a “hostile” attack in Lebanon’s southern city of Naquora, in conjunction with air raids.
Hezbollah-linked rescuers said Israel was behind the attack which hit an ambulance, killing one medic and wounding another.
The attack comes after several drones fired from Lebanon hit the Golan Heights earlier today, causing no injuries, according to Israel’s military.
