Speculation Abounds as Jason Kelce Considers Retirement U-Turn.
Jason Kelce’s retirement took a markedly different path from that of Tom Brady. While Brady quietly slipped away from the spotlight, Kelce bid farewell with an emotional outpouring.
However, there’s speculation that Kelce’s exit may not be permanent, as suggested by NFL analyst Mike Greenberg.
During Thursday’s episode of “Get Up,” Greenberg floated the possibility of Kelce making a comeback,
“That’s a fascinating thing because unless I missed a meeting, I don’t think there was like a league mandate that he had to retire,” Greenberg declared.
On the “New Heights” podcast, Kelce expressed regret over not being able to block for Saquon Barkley, hinting at unfinished business.
As Greenberg points out, there’s no obligation for Kelce to retire. Brady’s swift return to the league after his retirement adds weight to the possibility of Kelce following suit.
Despite this decline, his performance remained above average, making him a valuable asset for many offensive lines. In contrast, Brady’s return from retirement wasn’t as seamless; he faced challenges and setbacks, including uncharacteristic absences and being part of a losing team for the first time in his career.
While Kelce’s position as a center differs from Brady’s role as a quarterback, Brady’s experience after returning serves as a cautionary tale. Even if Kelce were to come back, there’s a possibility he might not reclaim his previous form, inviting comparisons to Brady’s post-retirement performance.
